I've always wanted to do a cross country motorcycle trip and now was a good time to do it: I was already in San Francisco for work and happen to have some time off. So, I bought a 1999 BMW F650. It has about 41K miles and is a little dirty but otherwise in great shape. I needed to get a new battery this morning and it needs time to charge. So, estimating that at about 9 am PST Saturday morning I will be crossing the Golden Gate bridge and driving north on route 1 all the way to Portland, OR. Below is the route I'm planning on taking. If you've ever driven this way and have some suggestions please email me. I should be in Portland by Tuesday.
